ABOUT DOOR OF HOPE

Program Information

Door of Hope is a non-profit, faith based organization whose mission is to equip homeless families to rebuild their lives. Since 1985, we have been providing transitional housing and a restoration program especially designed for homeless families with children.

Door of Hope operates two facilities - one in Pasadena and another in Glendale, providing beds for up to 113 individuals.

We are one of the few places which will accept both single mothers and single fathers as well as two parent families. Our goal is to help families with children go from homelessness to self-sufficiency to permanent housing. We provide a safe, nurturing home environment for homeless families who are serious about getting their lives back on track.

History of Door of Hope

Since 1985, Door of Hope has been providing transitional housing and a restoration program especially designed for homeless families with children. Door of Hope was founded to address the problem of entire families ending up on the streets.

The vision of local businessman Steve Lazarian, Sr. was to extend compassion to homeless families. With the collaboration of Union Rescue Mission in Los Angeles, Steve Lazarian, Sr. launched Door of Hope.

Our Successes and Vision for the Future

In the first 24 years we have seen over 200 families successfully complete our program and return to the community as productive and self-sufficient residents. Three out of four families maintain long term stability after graduating, never returning to homelessness again.

In 2009, we opened a new site in Glendale, which provides housing for thirteen families, including special provisions for victims of domestic violence. This program provides the same comprehensive services offered at our Pasadena home.

It doesn't feel like you are in a program. You are made to feel like this is your home.

-Wendi, graduate
