QUALIFICATIONS

Door of Hope works with single mothers and single fathers with children as well as two-parent families with children. At the time of the interview or a family’s acceptance in to Door of Hope, all members of the family, including children, must be present.

In a two-parent household, the couple must be legally married and able to provide a copy of their marriage certificate as verification. If a you are not married, but are willing to be married if accepted into the program, please feel free to go through the application process.

Because of the nature of the program, we do not accept single mothers who are pregnant. Single mothers or fathers with newborns need to be willing for their newborn to be in childcare in order to successfully achieve employment.

Door of Hope is a program in which one’s ability to sustain one self and one’s family is the goal. We never want any family to revisit the chapter of homelessness and thus we put a big emphasis on employment. If you are not employed at the point of entering the program you will be required to gain employment at the beginning of the program and you must be able to open a bank account for your savings and budgeting purposes.

I am thankful that Door of Hope is a program that works with two parent families because since my husband and I have been in the program, we have seen our family relationships strengthen.
